“The First Cut” was a free exhibition that ran from October 2012 to January 2013 at Manchester Art Gallery.
The show, dedicated to art works purely made from paper included thirty one international artists. Below are two artists that caught my eye at the exhibition…
• “Looking Back III” Acid-free A4 80gsm paper glue, framed by Peter Callesen •
Love this artist, many of his works seem to build themselves from single sheets of paper, a great transition from two – three dimensions. Click on his name more his website where you will find so quite amazing art works.
His next show will be at Galería Valle Ortí, Valencia, Spain.
• “Notice – Forest”, Paper cut bag 2009 by Yuken Teruya. •
Yuken Teruya is an artist based in New York.
He works with various materials such as toilet paper rolls, paper shopping bags and butterfly chrysalises. His ideas often reflect life and history of Okinawa, his homeland, an island near Taiwan. You can see more of his work here.
